Creativisms is both an information clearing house and a means of expression. Our goals and aims with the site are, on the one hand to provide good, solid information that can help struggling artists find their footing, establish and maintain their creativity, find their voice (or palette, or whatever), and secure materials to enhance creativity without spending an arm and a leg (hey! We’re “starving artists” too, so much of the tools you’ll find here are either free, or nearly so), and on the other, to showcase the portfolios of certain artists to both increase exposure and to inspire others by outlining what is possible if you let go and embrace your inner artist.
You may not like everything you see here, and that’s okay. You don’t have to. Remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and while you may find certain artistic expressions cringe-worthy, someone else might see it as fantastic, or even awe-inspiring. Part of BEING an artist is keeping an open mind!
Structurally, the site is broken into three major sections: Tools and Tutorials, Inspiration, and Artist Profiles. The first will focus on the practical, nuts-and-bolts bits. Software to help keep you organized and/or boost your creativity. Gear and supplies you might need, and where to find it. That sort of thing.
The second section will focus on helping you stay “up,” even when you don’t feel it. Being artists ourselves, we understand that everybody has their creative ups and downs, and writers aren’t the only ones who suffer from “blocks.” Our goal with this section is to help you cope with the downs, and hopefully get you excited enough to start creating again!
And finally, the artist profiles, where we’ll highlight certain artists, what they’re doing, how they’re doing it, and the like. We expect this section to grow slowly and steadily over time, and entrants will be chosen by the site owners, mostly from our own membership, but it’s possible that if an artist catches our eye elsewhere, they’ll be privately contacted as well.
So that’s it for now, and that’s us!
I’m going to publish this, and then go get busy creating the additional content that’ll start fleshing this place out!
